United Christian Fellowship The basis for the work done in the campus ministry of the United Christian Fellowship at Navarro College is rooted in the challenge proclaimed by Jesus Christ in Matthew 5:14-16 when he said, “You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” The UCF’s goal is to shine the light of Christ on all human beings so as to give glory to God.
The form of this light begins with fellowship that stems from love for one another. This is seen in the UCF’s two weekly meals offered to all students, faculty, and visitors; all furnished by the gracious people of the area churches and organizations. The light can also be seen in UCF’s outreach to its community. United Christian Fellowship organizes teams of students to participate in the annual Christmas in October program that refurbishes houses of elderly and needy people in the Corsicana area. In addition, money is also raised in the annual Yard Dawg garage sale for student emergency situations and scholarships. Weekly Bible study and communion is offered and open to all. With “the light of the world” as the focus, everyone will know that we are Christ’s disciples, “if we have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)
